NTPA at Sparkle '09

For the first time in the NTPAs short history the association attended Sparkle in 2009.  The event has been held in Manchester's Gay Village area for the last five years and is a celebration in all transgender.  It appeals to the enter spectrum of Trans from Transmen and Women to Cross-dressing/Transvestite People and anyone on the spectrum in between, and this year saw both the NTPA and Greater Manchester Police combine a stand to provide information do safe ways to report crime, especially for the transgender community.  The following are a few views of our weekend, and feedback from officers from GMP.

Text Box: ''This was the fifth Sparkle event to take place in the city centre, but the first time that GMP has had such a large involvement in the occasion.  Officers opened a mobile police station to give safety advice, support and reassurance to the community.

It was a really great event, where everyone could get together to meet new people and celebrate gender diversity, everyone had a fantastic time.''

Text Box: “It’s important to us that the community feels comfortable about coming forward to report crime, GMP nor the UK Police Service will not tolerate discrimination and will offer support to those who come forward to tell us about any incident or crime.''
